Meet the Director
Heidi Scheibmeir became the music director for The Children’s Chorus of Greater North Texas in 2015. Heidi has been singing in choirs since 6th grade and loves teaching music to children. She received a degree in Elementary Education with specializations in music and early childhood from the University of North Texas. Heidi received her Master’s degree in Music Education with an emphasis on vocal studies from the University of North Texas. She has earned certifications from The Gordon Institute for Music Learning and MusikGarten. Heidi is also certified in music through the Texas State Board of Education.
For ten years (2004-2014), Heidi was the head teacher and associate director for the Early Childhood Music Program at The College of Music of The University of North Texas. She founded Little Musicians in 2006, which provides early childhood music classes to the Texoma area. Heidi is also the founder and choir director of Voices of Angels at St. Mary’s Catholic Parish. Heidi has taught music in public schools and has presented at several conferences on early childhood music. Currently, Heidi is also the choir director at Piner Middle School in Sherman. She is the proud mother of five children, including triplets..
Meet the Accompanist
Claire Dering, a piano teacher and a native of Louisiana, has earned her Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. She received her Master of Music Degree from Southern Methodist University where she studied piano with Alfred Mouledous, pianist for the Dallas Symphony. Throughout her college years, she has accompanied a variety of singers, instrumentalists, and dance classes and is presently organist for St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sherman. She has been active in the community as an accompanist for the Sherman Musical Arts Singers and Music Makers, and for the annual S.M.A. Summer Choral Drama Workshop.
